Leatheroid Brass Copper Buttoned Dome Top 34" Steamer Trunk Antique 1880's
Oak slats and metalwork have been treated with beeswax preservative. Pine panels were left natural so's not to over darken.

Original worn leather panels mostly removed to show natural pine wood. Some are intake around middle. Has Very unique nickel plated lockset stamped Leatheroid Trunk Co. Iron hinges and latches with steel bumper guards and banding which are held down with solid brass and copper fasteners. One brass is missing on top. Patina left on, but could be lightly polished to show the color if desired. A very solid trunk structurally with a vintage relining. A chain lid stay has been added which works well. Jute rope handles have been replaced some time ago and are solid and usable.

The Kennebunk Manufacturing Company made cases, boxes, valises, grips, and trunks from 1893 to 1906 in Kennebunk, Maine and from 1906 to 1936 in Milton, NH. Their sales offices were out of Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Chicago.
